Astrid, Vic $, Gail, Sharon, Paul and Bonnie
and paddled 24 kms across the bay with a cooperative wind and a following sea. They landed on the beach at Meelup in bumpy seas 2 hours and 32 minutes later, setting a new speed record for this leg! (The closest time for this crossing was 2:37, done in 2014 and again in 2017).
Crew 2 paddled out of Meelup into washing machine conditions and a head wind -
Diane, Bill, Dave, Nic, John and Vic
which lasted the better part of the first 90 minutes of paddling. Things settled nicely as we approached Busso, arriving back at the Geographe Bay Yacht Club 2 hours and 50 minutes after launching.
This was neither the slowest time for this crossing (just under 4 hours in January of 2012!) nor the fastest (2:33 in December of 2012).
