Blackwood River Long Boat Paddle
Late in November we launched two crews from the Colour Patch Cafe beach in Augusta and paddled upstream on the Blackwood River. The tide was running out so we encountered the occasional shallow spot. A squadron of pelicans held a meeting on a sandbar as we paddled by. An hour to a sandy beach landing and lunch on Molloy Island - an hour and fifteen minutes into a strong headwind home again (just over 20 kms round trip).
